Daily Deviation

Given 2011-01-18
"I watch him, and am often impressed with his work. This particular piece however, really caught my eye. Technically speaking it is very striking. The focus is fantastic, as is the range of lighting and placement of shadows. Creatively speaking, it is equally magnificent. The subjects appear locked in a lonely dance in the middle of nowhere, which (to me) alludes to a singular focus on one another."

Well thats still cool with me, the picture is an exceptional capture and I thought it should be showcased at more at other forums too. What if I was to buy it off of you? I am developing a media website for my media company I am going to have a seperate section for those who have contributed in various ways and means. Am planning put in a slideshow for pictures uploaded by contributors for showcasing their pictures. I can extend a complimentary membership for you for the same.

I think the shadow does not match the figures here and that is what is captivatingly magical about this.....you never seem to pay any attention to the shadow that is casted by something lustful and tempting. I love the marriage of nature and desire here....the small rock is yet stout and stands the ground proudly....casting its real shadow rather than the one that takes away the focus...............I hope I am able to catch the magic or is it my imagination

Nope, it's all real. I did skin clean-up and color adjustments - that's it.

I definitely notice the rock in the foreground. I just wished that the clouds on the far left weren't there. Otherwise, great photo. Love the models' poses. the guy kinda reminds me of Trent Reznor. ...can have him? :D

Thanks mate!

It'd have to take a really special situation for me to go back into the studio, eh. I never thought I'd say it, but it's true :)

Really? I know im a just studio person too, but im getting bored with it, i want to go out. I think ill expand into set up areas that i can still fit some lights into, like a cool house or something. I cant afford a flash or some better lenses yet cause im still a student, but one day i will venture out some more with good results i hope.
Till then im gonna keep trying to be as creative as i can in the studio

For sure. You know what they say: once you go location, you never go back :)

Check eBay, bud. I got two Yongnuo speedlights from eBay for really cheap and they work fantastic!

[link]

They have an insanely sensitive optical trigger in, so all you need is a decent main flash and you can use these babies as secondary lights. I use two of them with my Canon 580EX and they work like a charm!

heh, thanks, well, there's only one small little detail and that's the gold nugget laying on the ground at the bottom of the shot. You'll also notice that she's looking at it, hence the title of the shot. The idea was that they are fighting over it. :)

OK I have got to say, anytime I'm totally distracted by a guy's focus instead of his shirtless torso, ESPECIALLY when said torso looks like that, you know you've got a fantastic model to work with. Great job on both their parts, but he defintiel stood out to me!
