But in a relationship, you're promising to care about everything. The good things, the bad things, the terrible things, the mundane things... all of it, all of the time, every day. I had the absolute fortune today of working with a BEAUTIFUL young lady called Kalandra. She is Stefan's cousin and she contacted me after seeing the shots I did of Stefan.
She'd never done a studio shoot before, so she was very nervous when we started. When she started relaxing, however, we had an AMAZING shoot and I took, in my opinion, some of the best photographs I've taken since I got my into photography. I'm absolutely ecstatic with them! She turned out to be a natural and she was extremely diverse in her looks. I was really impressed with her and I hope I get to work with her again.
I used a different type of post-processing on these shots as well. I believe it's called "acidify" and "cross-processing"? Some of the images are also high-key. I love the blues and greens it adds to the pictures. It might not be everyone's cup of tea and it does cause some blow-outs on some of the images, but I think it works?
Other than that, I also put a lot more effort into the lighting as well as the direction of the model. The latter was a complete first for me - telling the model exactly what I'd like her to do etc.
All of these things combined resulted in a set that I'm over the moon about. I hope you guys like it too?
I'll add the images to this journal as I upload them.
As always, I really appreciate any feedback, favourites and watches, even if I don't reply and say "thanks" to all of them - I do notice and appreciate them.
Thanks for looking,
Johann.

Awesome man. You've definitely upped your game with this latest shoot. I'm so glad for you that you're are pursuing with vigour an aspect of photography that really interests you and the results clearly show.
I don't have to like all the photo's but overall I see some stunning shots - lots to be proud of.
Well done and keep it up!

Hehehe, you know, when I was working on them I thought to myself "It'd be interesting to hear what Ian thinks about these. There's a strong chance he won't like some of them", mainly because they deviate from the classic, soft portraiture that you like. But remember what you said the other day? Sometimes breaking the rules is a good thing. And I went all out to break the rules. Some of the pictures have hotspots, but it works... for me. It's not everyone's cuppa - that's understandable.
And you're right... I've upped my game SERIOUSLY... Eek...
